What is Humanity V 2.0
Rom 12:2 And do not fashion yourselves after this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and well pleasing and perfect will of God.
This is one of the most important, but least understood scriptures.
Let’s read it from the Greek.
“Do not adopt the blueprint which makes up the current world system, but achieve metamorphosis by developing Christ’s mindset.
His mindset is unique, novel, and cutting edge.
Then, and only then, will you accurately evaluate what is that good, well pleasing, and the complete will of God, for you.”
What is metamorphosis?
Almost everybody answers that it’s an ugly caterpillar becoming a gorgeous butterfly!
And they are right!
This is what it means to be a Christian.
Christianity is simply not about going to heaven.
Neither is it just having a Heavenly Father who loves, provides for, heals and guides.
It’s not just about going to church, or having a ministry, or reaching the unchurched.
How does the caterpillar become a butterfly?
The caterpillar hangs upside down from a twig.
It then spins a cocoon.
Within the cocoon the caterpillar eats itself up through a release of potent enzymes.
Everything is devoured except a family of cells which quickly divide to create the butterfly.
For the Christian, it is the same.
On the cross, the Christian dies with Christ.
Now a corpse, she disintegrates into dust, and the Christ who’s in her, brings her back to life and metamorphoses her into His image.
If Adam had not sin, Jesus would not have had to die.
Man was created to live forever in fellowship with God, without sickness, or pain.
Christianity is not a religion.
It’s the process by which a human being is metamorphosed into the image of Christ.
Jesus Christ is the beautiful butterfly.
Fallen humanity is the ugly caterpillar.
Sin made into a caterpillar.
Christianity offers people a new operating system and upgrade.
This is a Humanity Upgrade.
It’s Humanity Version 2.0.
Christ Jesus is Humanity 2.0
The resurrected Christ is the archetype and prototype of what God intended humanity to be, in the first place.
The humanity that we live in is version 1.0.
It’s wrecked by sin.
Just as with the caterpillar, Humanity 1.0 must self-destruct to upgrade to Humanity 2.0.
Jesus Christ inside of a person supplies the operating system, the downloads and upgrades for this to occur.
The process is not automatic, however.
It entails” hands on” collaboration between the Holy Spirit and the person for it to happen.
It takes absolute submission and surrender to the Holy Spirit’s commands.
It requires the person to read the Bible, pray, and connect with the body of Christ.
If we see Christianity as a religion, we’ve missed it.
If we see it as clash of Christian values against the world’s, we miss it.
What makes Christianity different is that it’s the only entity to offer humanity upgrades, and a new humanity version.
Would people want this?
I know they would, if it was marketed correctly.
The “how to’s” of marketing this new humanity poses the challenge to every Christian.
The church does a poor job of marketing Humanity 2.0.
Before the Christian can offer the upgrade, she must be well on her way to be upgraded herself.
How can a butterfly tell a caterpillar to become a butterfly unless she herself is a butterfly?
Yet we see this in the church as she clashes in moral wars and loses this generation!
The church demand caterpillars to become butterflies when she is still a cocoon.
The unchurched look at the church and see the boring cocoon.
They say, “I am an ugly caterpillar having fun but you are demanding that I become a boring cocoon.”
I’d rather be the party caterpillar than the dull cocoon.
How difficult is this process of metamorphosis?
It cost the caterpillar its life.
At the end he is the happy butterfly.
For the Christian, it involves a total death of self through the cross and gradual emergence of the resurrected Christ as the butterfly.
I see few Christians who are willing to go through or understand the process of metamorphosis.
Let’s worry less about changing caterpillars into butterflies, while we are still cocoons.
Let’s upgrade to Humanity Version 2.0
Bill Gates does not force people to purchase Windows!
Neither does Apple force people to purchase watches!
Why?
People see the upgrade and want them.
The transformed butterfly displays Jesus, Humanity 2.0, and everyone wants Him.
This is revival!
Joh 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.”
