What Is The Greatest Law?

Ro 7:22 For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man.

Ro 7:23 But I see a different law in my members, waging war against the law of my mind, and capturing me by the law of sin which is in my members.

Ro 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself with the mind serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and of death.

What is the greatest law?

Because of Adam and Eve’s fall, everyone is born with a sinful nature.

This nature is a sin creating engine constantly producing sin.

This is why that without Christ, people can only sin.

When an individual accept Christ this sin producing engine is destroyed.

The Christian receives a new nature, that of the resurrected Christ.

The finished work of Christ throws a monkey wrench into the engine and makes it nonfunctional.

Those who invite Christ into their lives are immediately freed from the sinful nature.

What remains are the sinful habits which the Holy Spirit gradually removes.

We can view this in different light.

Though the sinful nature is eradicated, the law of sin and death is not.

This law is a person’s capacity to sin under specific circumstances.

It’s tied up with the habits of sin.

In the person without Christ, the sinful nature drives this law continually.

In the person who has Christ, the eyes, mouth, hands, and feet are capable of sinning at any moment, but the sinful nature is no longer there to propel it.

What remains are sinful habits, or the law of sin and death.

As long as the person conducts his life by the voice of the Holy Spirit, the new law found in the nature of the resurrected Christ is stronger than the law of sin and death.

This new law, is the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.

It is stronger than the law of sin and death.

This law functions by the voice of the Holy Spirit and keeps the law of sin and death dormant, or at bay, in the Christian.

However, if the Christian steps out from following God by the voice of the Spirit, the law of the Spirit of life, is no longer prominent.

The dormant law of sin and death awakens, and the Christian sins.

We note this in the person who tries to quit smoking from guilt and not because it’s God’s timing to free him.

His attempts awakens the law of sin and death and he miserably fails over and over.

Just look at me.

I was always fat.

I tried zillions of diets and failed and got fatter all the time.

God’s time of deliverance was not there.

I attempted to lose weight by my own strength awaking the law of in and death in my mouth and stomach.

In June 2014, the Holy Spirit said, “This is your time to lose the weight. If you don’t, you won’t fulfill your ministry.”

Now in nine months I’ve lost 43 pounds.

It has been easy. I have not suffered. It was God’s time. The law of the Spirit of Life working in His voice kept the law of sin and death in my mouth and stomach dormant and the weight has come off.

Church leaders who endeavor to bring growth outside of the specific plans of God fail.

They spend umpteenth money, and get little return.

The dormant law of sin and death awakened, creating misguided steps and with that frustration and discouragement, which causes some pastors to even quit.

The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus is the greatest law.
