What is a the good confession?
1Ti 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold of eternal life, to which you were called and have confessed the good confession before many witnesses.
Heb 4:14 Therefore having a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast the confession.
Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
Confession stems from two Greek words, “homologia.”
Homos, is what identical or the same.
Logia is from legos which is to speak or say.
What is central to legos, is that it does not stress the verbalizing of speech but the content of what is said.
The good confession demands that the external content of what is expressed match what is inside of a person.
Homologia is transparency.
It’s an external representation of the internal motives and purposes of the heart.
What you see is what you get, is homologia.
Flowery rhetoric which does match with heart motives is not the good confession.
Hypocrisy is contrary to the good confession.
There is no better example than politicians who claim to be Christians while doing the opposite.
Tragically there is a vast number of people who swallow their false confessions.
Before 2016 ask yourself if your candidate is lying or making the good confession.
