Ministers, who work in the Holy Spirit.
John 5:16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day
John 5:17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
Worketh : is defined in exactly the same way that a company strives to be successful in producing the services for which it is in business for.
Christians can achieve success by walking in the voice of the Holy Spirit.
Hitherto: My Father has been continually at work, producing the services that pertain to the business of the kingdom of God in an unbroken flow, right through all of your Sabbaths; and even now, as we speak, He works.
What a wonderful thing of us to know that the Spirit of God is always working, twenty four seven.
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
Seeth: Seeing from a perspective of not observing what one sees, but simply, to glance at.
Likewise: Is the word homoios, or the same, identical.
This is a tremendously important point of training for ministers who want to work in the Spirit.
Jesus tells us that we are to work out into the world, what the Father works into us, with exactly the same intentions, intensity, and ways used by the Father. Our ministry must be a carbon copy of the Father’s ministry in us.
The Spirit works in by His voice, and we work out through obedience.
The manner of seeing is also vital and is a key to the use of all spiritual gifts.
Glancing at something does not entail having to understand what one, sees.
It’s simply seeing in the Spirit, to then perform identically outwardly what one sees in the Spirit inwardly.
Many times God does not require for us to understand something, before we step out to do it.
One steps out in what he has glanced in the spirit and then then the understanding comes.
He simply tries copies outwardly ( homoios) what he has glanced at inwardly.
First obedience to do, and then the understanding, and not the other way around.
John 5:20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth ( dieknuoo) him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
Greek: For the Father is fond of the Son and shows Him all things that He does in a way that can be proven and for proof, and greater than these works will he show you with the goal in His mind that you may wonder.
Sheweth: Dieknuoo: to prove something by showing.
Ministers must know that continually, at all moments, the Father is exhibiting within them all that He does in way that the minister can understand and prove the work of God, and then manifest it as proof into the world.
God will always give you sufficient proof in the Spirit for you to step out in obey.
In the glancing the spirit, there is sufficient proof to obey.
Hebrews 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised ( Greek word; naked (gymnos) and also gymnastics) to discern both good and evil.
Greek: But only for the mature and spiritually fully-grown man or woman that is attaining to Christ’s character belongs solid food.
Even to him, or her, who has a developed the habit of spiritual perception and discernment that can distinguish the good from the evil.
This discernment is blossoming as the result of spiritual training performed like athletes who have stripped and became naked from all worldly things, so that their spiritual training may be vigorous and unhindered.
These things transmit to others and teach.
1 Tim 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
“Despise” –To think down
“Example” This comes from the word that means to “strike a blow which leaves a mark.”
Paul here encourages believers to leave a mark for other Christians to follow.
God desires every one of us to live in such a way that we become a pattern of, or create a mold or mark which others can imitate.
Word – Different things can be inferred from this.
The words that come out of our mouths must be wholesome to the building up of others.
Notice Strong’s Word 5198 below.
This is “hugianino. This is a medical term describing health, wholeness and soundness of body.
Paul laid great stress in the soundness of our doctrine. that would be accurate to what the Word of God says.
Progressive health begins in our spirit, which is influenced by the filling of the Holy Spirit will then will permeate through our soul life and finally affect our bodies.
We are living in times in which healthy and sound doctrine is no longer a priority and it’s hurting the church and society.
Christians cannot accommodate cultural and social issues at the expense of stripping the Word of God of its soundness.
That is an open door for the devil to attack.
Lu 5:31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole <5198> need not a physician; but they that are sick.
Lu 7:10 And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole <5198> that had been sick.
1Ti 1:10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound <5198> doctrine;
1Ti 6:3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome <5198> words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
2Ti 1:13 Hold fast the form of sound <5198> words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound <5198> doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
Tit 1:9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound <5198> doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
Tit 1:13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound <5198> in the faith;
Tit 2:1 But speak thou the things which become sound <5198> doctrine:
3Jo 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health <5198>, even as thy soul prospereth.
1 Tim 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
Conversation – Behavior
Charity- Divine, and self-sacrificial love which will sacrifice one’s pleasure to meet the needs of another.
Spirit – Some translations omit “spirit” in this verse.
Faith – Restrict our lives to the voice of the Lord, which is the faith of God.
True faith is only found in the voice of the Holy Spirit, which is or has the faith of God.
The more than one wants to live by faith, the more she will restrict her activities to the still small voice of the Holy Spirit.
Purity -This word in reality means “sinlessness”. It talks not only about purity in our actions but also in our motives. We realize that it is humanly impossible to be sinless in this life, but our goal should always be to attain this as we labor and athletically strive in the Lord’s calling.
14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
Greek: Do not become careless about the spiritual gift, which was given to you by (the Holy Spirit) through prophecy and the laying of hands.
Every believer is given spiritual gifts for the manifesting of the Holy Spirit. God, we cannot see. Spiritual gifts manifest Him. Everybody believer has been given spiritual gifts. It is required that each of us find out what they are, and use them.
15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting (progress)may appear to all.
Meditate- Care for, attend to, and keep practicing “the things that we have discussed”
Give thyself wholly to them – Literally “to become one with them”.
Paul tell us throw ourselves fully, or become submerged and consumed with the things that lead to godliness, purity, charity, spiritual gifts, and so forth.
That thy profiting literally describes “pioneers cutting a way for an army.”
Every Christian is called to a blaze a new pioneer trail, through which the Lord can effectively travel, in accordance with their calling.
There are now pew sitters who stay as pew sitters, and no room for mediocrity in God’s kingdom.
May appear to all – Will become clear to all.
1 Tim 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine.
Fasten your attentions to, observe, and attend to yourself first, and to your doctrine second. This doctrine is what you teach. It must be in accordance with the truth of the scriptures and your life must line up with it.
Continue in them – Be sure to stay in these things!
