1John 5: 14 And this is the confidence ( parrhesia) that we have in him that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions (REQUESTS EFFECTS/ OR THE RESULTS OF OUR REQUESTS) that we desired of him.
Verse 14 uses the word Greek parrhesia for “confidence”. This is literally translated as “every kind of speech or speaking.”
Parrhesia is a significant NT word.
Its defined as fearless confidence, frankness, plainness, and transparency in word and deed which emanate from a person who is free and liberated in Christ.
Parrhesia is the outward product of an interior life fashioned into the image of Christ.
This fearless confidence is the Person of Christ expressing and magnifying Himself in shameless power through a human vessel who is released, unimpeded and unoffended.

In verse 14 John discusses parrhesia in the context of obtaining from the Lord what we ask of Him.
Verse 14 goes on to say this parrhesia comes to us from the Holy Spirit as we ask in accordance to God’s will.
15 And if we know ( oida ) that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions (REQUESTS EFFECTS/ OR THE RESULTS OF OUR REQUESTS) that we desired of him.
Verse 15 is a powerful scripture.
The word for “know” is “oida”.
This is instinctual or gut feeling knowledge.
This is the “knower in our knowing” ; or just that we know, that we know, that we know.
I don’t have to go to school to know that a girl’s dress is red. This is “oida”!
Oida, in verse 15, is in the perfect tense. The perfect tense is completed action in the past, such as an event which occurred yesterday, yet its effects or results are still real today, and forever.
15 And if we know ( oida ) that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions (aitema) (REQUESTS EFFECTS/ OR THE RESULTS OF OUR REQUESTS) that we desired of him.
If we ask anything according to God’s will we must always know in our “knower”, that He hears us. It’s a done deal. God’s ears are not plugged.
If He has heard us, we know then that we have the petitions (REQUESTS EFFECTS/ OR THE COMPLETED RESULTS OF OUR REQUESTS) of what we desired of Him.
The word “petitions” in verse 15 is the Strong’s word # 155 “aitema”
It is only found 3 times in the NT. The interlinear translator correctly “translates” petitions as “request effects”.
These are “tangible, completed and answered” effects or results of our requests to God.” Our Spirit prompted petitions will gross Spirit produced results. Both things are simultaneous and are produced by God, who makes Himself responsible to do so.
Let me further explain this.
1 Cor 12:4 now there are diversities of gifts, (grace effects or results) but the same Spirit.
6 And there are diversities of operations (energy effects or results), but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

The word gifts is the word charisma or charismatic gift.
Charisma comes from the word charis which is the word grace. Grace, is the superhuman labor of God in the believer.
The nine charismatic gifts are the effects or tangible results of nine fold superhuman labors of God.
God makes Himself not just responsible to execute a charismatic gift through us. He likewise will bring the effect, or the tangible, manifested, completed results of the gift as it works through us.
God makes Himself responsible not just to work the gift through us, but produces its results upon us. How much faith and expectation do you have for results?
Our faith and anticipation must not only be on the gift but on the results, for God is the God of both.

The revelation that I got out of 1John is that when we ask according to the will of God, and have the faith to know that God’s ears are opened to what we have requested, the asking or prompting, and the receiving or the results, are both produced by Him.
God not only prompts us to ask but produces the results or effects.
Let me finish by giving you some scriptures where the wonderful word parrhesia occurs.

Ac 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness Parrhesia of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
Ac 4:29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness Parrhesia they may speak thy word,
Ac 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness Parrhesia.
Ac 28:31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence Parrhesia no man forbidding him.
2Co 3:12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech Parrhesia.
2Co 7:4 Great is my boldness of speech Parrhesia toward you, great is my glorying of you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation.
Eph 3:12 In whom we have boldness Parrhesia and access with confidence by the faith of him.
Eph 6:19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly Parrhesia to make known the mystery of the gospel,
Php 1:20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness Parrhesia as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
Col 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly Parrhesia triumphing over them in it.
Heb 3:6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence Parrhesia and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly Parrhesia unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Heb 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness Parrhesia to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
