The Scepter of Immediacy

 Heb 1:8  But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness ( euthutes/ noun) is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

I just love the noun righteousness “euthutes”. It is found only in Hebrews.

“Euthutes” comes from the adjective “euthus.”

“Euthus” is derived from the compound “eu” and “tithemi”.

The word “eu” though small, is huge in meaning. To be well off, to make a way successful and to prosper is the gist of “eu”.

“Tithemi” is “to place, set, or put something, somewhere.”

Thus “euthus” is placing something in the right place causing success or prosperity.  Being in the right place at the right time is a suitable description for “euthus.”

Lu 3:4  As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make ready (euthus/ adjective )the way of the Lord. Make his paths straight.

Joh 13:32  If God has been glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and he will glorify him immediately (euthus/ adjective )

Mt 3:3  For this is he who was spoken of by Isaiah the prophet, saying, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, make ready the way of the Lord. Make his paths straight (euthus/ adjective).”

“Euthus” in the above scriptures is making ready, straight and immediately.  This makes sense. If you are in the right place at the right time, and have set things straight, the tendency for stuff to happen immediately increases.

Let’s look at another usage of “Eu” in the verb. “euodoo.”

Ro 1:10  Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey(euodoo)  by the will of God to come unto you.

1Co 16:2  Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him (euodoo) that there be no gatherings when I come.

3Jo 1:2  Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper (euodoo)  and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth (euodoo).

“Euodoo” is made up of “eu” and another word, “hodos.”

“Hodos” is a road, a path, or a way.

“Euodoo” is the word “prosperity”.  To be on a path which causes good things to arise, leads to success, brings a breakthrough, and results in prosperity. Prosperity causes the breakthrough, or conversely a breakthrough causes prosperity.

There is no more prosperous path than that of the Lord Jesus’s. True success is doing the Lord’s will.

Prosperity is simply not having lots of money. Lasting prosperity which leads to success begins with our spiritual walk.

3Jo 1:2  Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper (euodoo)  and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth (euodoo).

The Spirit’s work delivers our soul life to salvation. Prosperity begins in the soul realm.

To own a dysfunctional soul and strive for financial prosperity is contradictory.

This has been the ailment of some prosperity teachers.

Money or anointing without character has brought catastrophe to many a Christian leader, hurting countless of churched and un churched alike.

Let’s  now look at the adverb “eutheos” as used in the immediacy of Jesus healings.

Mr 1:31  And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately ( eutheos / adverb) the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.

Mr 1:42  And as soon as he had spoken, immediately ( eutheos / adverb) the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.

Mr 5:29  And straightway ( eutheos / adverb) the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

Why did Jesus see immediate miracles? He had the knack for being in right place at the right time with the Father. Treading the straight course of God’s will, and seamlessly in tune with the Father, prosperous paths were Jesus’s, which God opened immediately.

There is something about immediacy when we know that we’re on the right path, in the right place and the right time. A scent of excitement perfumes it and we sense that things are just about to happen.

God works from prosperity. Not the money scam message. God opens doors, not when we twist His arm. Neither when we muster up “red faced” fleshly faith.

God senses a believer’s  path which is causing spiritual maturity. Bang!   He opens the doors. He loves to take us to the next level. Conversely, I know Christians with thirty disobedient years to God with more demonic bondage and physical sickness that when they got saved.

God’s open doors are proportionate to our obedience. Immediacy is proportional to instant joyful obedience. Miracles ensue when we function from moment to moment on the crest of God’s voice.

So the notion of immediacy is seen with real prosperity, or when things are right in God’s eyes. For the one who acts correctly, more immediate things occur.

God rules from His throne with a rod of euthetes. “Righteousness”, is the placing of all things in the right place and at the right time.

It is God’s nature to be righteous. Everything about Him is right. God has perfect moral integrity. He is flawlessly whole in character, impeccably untainted in justice, and transcendental in wisdom.

I believe that the scepter of righteousness is also the scepter of immediacy. It’s all connected. Right living for God, causes true prosperity. God opens the immediate when the “right place in the right time” conditions prevail, much by our doing.
