I was reading about the Hebrides Islands Revival yesterday. God confirmed what I had sensed during the holidays.
I grew up playing golf. I’d watch the masters at work; Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, and now Tiger Woods. Or Serena and Venus Williams in tennis! Or Joao Gilberto strumming his acoustic Brazilian Samba guitar!
Have you detected how the greats make what they do seem so easy?
When one reach the pinnacle of profession, the combination of pure talent and raw confidence make it all so easy and a marvel to watch these folks.
When God moves in revival, everything becomes simple. Hundreds, if not thousands, are saved just because God moved. It’s not the labor of man, but a move of God. It’s not the strategizing of church programs, but a Holy Visitation.
Ro 9:16 So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who has mercy.
It’s not of him who devices a lot, or of him or who is hectic enough, but of God who has mercy , visits, moves and sweeps through nations.
2 Kings 2:9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion or mouth of thy spirit be upon me.
“Let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me:”
Let it become dual mouth of your Spirit to me!
Let it become a twofold mouth of your Spirit to me!
Let it become two mouth of your Spirit to me!
Before Elijah was taken in the fiery chariot, he asked Elisha what he desired.
Elisha responded with a double portion of Elijah’s spirit.
Portion, is the Hebrew “peh”, which is the word for mouth.
In reality, Elisha requested for a twofold mouth or a dual mouth of Elijah’s spirit.
The concept of duality can be cherished in stereo versus mono music. Duality, or stereophonic sound is side by side, and not particularly something heaped on top of something else.
You appreciate listening to one channel of music as opposed to two channels of stereo. What a difference!
Or looking through one eye of a telescope versus the two eyes of a binocular. This is stereo ocular vision.
My theory of Elisha’s double portion, or duality of mouth of Elijah’s spirit, is that God spoke to Elisha out of a dual mouth. Stereophonic speech from God produced stereophonic hearing and stereo dynamite power in Elisha. Not so much something heaped on top of something else, but dual, side by side, stereo transmittal and reception of the things of God.
We will see that Elisha had nearly the double of miracles of Elijah!

This is not my point though! LOL!
As with the greats of this world, when God does it, it’s easy.
God give us the duality of all that we need. We become co laborers with Him. This is the double portion.
Let us cry out then in this New Year!
“Lord we need your visitation, where thousands are swept by your power!”
“Lord we are tired of striving and planning and working. Lord have mercy!”
“Lord bring us back to your great object lesson; less work and more prayer!”
“Lord, give us a dual mouth of your Spirit so that everything becomes in stereo for us!”
