Eph 4: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old (palaios) (humanity), which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
Here is a description of the “palaios” humanity from an earlier blog entry.
Palaios “an old man according to age”, is defined as a toothless, 150 year old, cane walking, IV sucking, decrepit nursing home man.
He is also the cruelest of beings. He is a slave trader, and a slave master.
His slaves are all the men and women of this world, no matter what religion, color or age.
This old man is a sin producing engine. He keeps humans captured and blinded by releasing continual sin into them. He knows that the only one who can kill him is Christ and His cross. Thus he deceives people into hating Christ.
One day, it will be too late, and along with this toothless man, many will go to where there is gnashing of teeth.
He has deceived humanity so that it spends trillions of dollars to keep him alive, beautify, exalt, cosmeticized and protect him. His only purpose was to be killed by the cross. Yet people would rather reject Christ and continue to keep this dude alive.
The old man is the sinful nature which every human being has. Only Christ inside the human can destroy him.
Yet mankind will do anything to keep him alive and well, before coming to Christ.
Ah, the price of keeping sin trillions, and yet it will be paid until Christ comes back and promotes good politics. The way out of the financial mess is repentance.
But for those who want to get rid of this decrepit and evil man, Christ is always available.
But for many others the love of this decrepit and evil dude will take them to the wrong side of the grave and in not so nice a place the human’s eye will finally be opened the old nursing home man.
Let’s do a study on the old and the new humanity!
Eph 4: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old (palaios) (humanity), which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
Be placing away from yourself , progressively, until it’s totally put away, the ancient nursing home humanity .
There is also the archaic man, which qualifies humanity as old, in its outdated ways of behaving or functioning.
It’s no wonder that the devil’s labor and subsequent sin are archaic to the approach that God wishes humanity to function. Fallen humanity operates way sub par to God’s mindset in an archaic method.
2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new (kainoos) creature: (archaios) are passed away; behold, all things are become new (kainoos).
Re 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that (archaios) serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Re 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that (archaios) serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Eph 4:23
23 And be renewed ( ananeoo) ( present passive) in the spirit of your mind;
“Be made young again”: The word “neoos” defines new as being young in years.
This new humanity is one which increasingly gets younger and younger in years.
The goal of our renewed minds is so that we can receive by faith that we becomes younger. Of course this outer shell will wax old and die, but the new humanity, Christ Jesus in us, becomes younger daily.
This is indispensable to our physical health. The inward man can control our flesh to such great extent, when God’s Spirit reigns supreme in us. Our recognition that we are getting younger can add quality and quantity to our lives.
I believe that our physical organs and our bodily members will experience miracles of rejuvenation and healing through the principle of the neoos humanity.
The (ISA )Version has this verse as, “be being younged up again”!
(EB) Version: And were to be getting young again in the spirit of your mind,
Eph 4:24
Eph 4:24 And that ye put on ( aorist) the new ( kainos) man ( anthropoos), which after God is created (aorist passive) in righteousness and true holiness.
The aorist Greek verb tense defines an event as something completed. It can be used for a past or for a future occurrence as long as it stresses the event in its completion. The content of the happening does not matter, just its completion.
Created in the order of Jesus Christ, or God, which Paul terms as the second humanity.
1Co 15:47 The first humanity is of the earth, earthy: the second humanity is the Lord from heaven.
Created, is in the passive state, thus an entering into the recognition of a reality, or an existence, that we have a “young in years” humanity.
“Put on” describes the slipping into new clothes. We must become fully dressed with this new humanity. “Put on” is in the aorist tense.
Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed (metamorphosis) by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
We must be clothed once and for all with the new form or humanity. Totally be unclothed with the old humanity. Totally be clothed with the new humanity. Both of these actions are in the aorist tenses. Thus is the meaning of reconciliation, which is the exchanging of one thing for something totally different.
There will comes a day, if you persevere, that what will be left is the Person of Christ Jesus, living His life in you. Here you enter into ultimate fruitfulness by the functions of this new humanity which works transcendentally, out of the box, and without walls.
John 15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
True abiding, is resting or dwelling in the Person of Christ. Its living from the new humanity. From the place of abiding, Christ lives His life in you. Because His humanity is transcendental, so is His fruit bearing through you.
Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe (INTO) his name:
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth (INTO) him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:36 He that believeth (INTO) the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Joh 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe (INTO) him whom he hath sent.
Joh 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth (INTO)me shall never thirst.
Joh 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth (INTO) him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
To be born again is to be placed IN Christ.
I believe though, that the going INTO the Person of Christ, who we are already IN, is daily, infinite, transcendental, novel, and without limits.
Since IN Christ lives the law of the Spirit of Life, and since IN Him dwells all creation, the more that we go INTO Him, the more that we will benefit.
Such was Paul’s discovery. He recognized that nothing was as enticing or fascinating than getting to know the Person of Christ IN Him, by going deeper INTO Him.
Eph 4:24
24 And that ye put on ( aorist) the new ( kainos) man ( anthropoos), which after God is created (aorist passive) in righteousness and true holiness.
(AUV-NT) Version: And you should put on the new person who has been [re-] created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. (ALT) and to put on the new person, the one having been created according to God in righteousness and holiness of [or, dedication to] the truth.
(GSNT) Version: and put on the new self who has been created in likeness to God, with all the uprightness and holiness that belong to the truth.
(JMNT) Version: and to clothe yourselves with the new humanity (man) – the one in accord with God – being created (framed; founded; reduced from a state of disorder and wildness) within the way pointed out (righteousness; justice; fair and equitable dealings; observance of the rules) and reverent dedication (regard for God’s laws) pertaining to the Truth.
We must carefully heed to the important word “kainoos”. Paul tells us to work out our salvation with reverential fear and awe inspiring trembling. Our life and years depends on it. God commands us that we press into metamorphosis until what is left in us is the unique, novel, new in type and kind, pioneering in mind, never seen before, out of the box, humanity. From the palaios and archaic humanity, into the neoos and kainos humanity, we must be metamorphosed.
Re 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that (archaios) serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Keeping God, church, and Christianity in a box is great sin. This is the archaic thinking coming from a palaios identity. It’s also the direct attack of that archaic serpent, the devil.
Its no wonder the unchurched don’t want Christ, and they don’t want us.
They see the church as an archaic institution, and in many ways they are right! If we the church, functioned in a cutting edge, out of the box, kainoos humanity, the multitudes would be drawn to Jesus Christ. We must repent of living in a Christian box in our Christian ghetto. This is the cry of metamorphosis!
Here are vital instances of kainoos.
The word “kainos” also defines the word new. Whereas “ neoos” qualifies new as a feature of age, “kaionos” qualifies new as a new type or a new kind of object. “Kainoos” is something novel, unique and different, never seen, pioneering, cutting edge, and totally out of the box.
Ro 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in (kainos) of life.
Ro 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in (kainos) of spirit, and not in the ( palaios) of the letter.
Look at Jesus sublime play of words with neoos and kainoos!
Mt 9:17 Neither do men put new ( neoos) wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new (neoos) wine into new (kainos) bottles, and both are preserved.
Mt 26:28 For this is my blood of the new (kainos) testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Mr 1:27 And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what (kainos) doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.
Lu 5:38 But new ( neoos) wine must be put into (kainos) bottles; and both are preserved.
2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a (kainos) creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become (kainos)
Ga 6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a (kainos) creature.
Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one (kainos) ( humanity), so making ( shalom) ;
Eph 4:24 And that ye put on the (kainos) man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Heb 8:8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a (kainos) covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Re 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a (kainos) name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
Re 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is (kainos) Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my (kainos) name.
Re 5:9 And they sung a (kainos) song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
Re 14:3 And they sung as it were a (kainos) song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.
Re 21:1 And I saw a (kainos) heaven and a (kainos) earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
Re 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, (kainos) Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Re 21:5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things (kainos). And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
Colossians 3:7
7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
(AUV-NT) Version: You people also once lived like this when you practiced these things. Treaded around or habitually without thinking lived like this
When you lived ” in these” things you would tread in them. We no longer live in these things and we do not have to habitually tread in them
(JMNT) Version: within which things you folks also at one time (once; formerly) walked about (= lived your lives), when you were living within these things.
Col 3:8
8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
(JMNT) Version: But now, even you folks, put away from you (as of clothes put off and laid away) all these things: inherent fervor (natural impulse and propensity; internal swelling and teeming; anger; wrath), strong passion (rushing of emotions; outbursts of rage), worthlessness (poorness of quality; influence of the bad), [and] from out of your mouth: blasphemy (abusive and injurious talk; slander) [and] foul-mouthed abuse (obscenity; ugly words; deformed and shameful language).
All that is of the old life must be totally undressed from us as old clothes. Another We must divorce the old archaic identity.
Col 3 :9
9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off ( aorist tense) the old man with his deeds;
(AUV-NT) Version: Do not lie to one another, since you have put away [the conduct of] your old person with its practices,
The palaios humanity has been undressed from us with its ancient and archaic habits and practices. The revelation that our habits are gone must become factual to us through the renewal of the mind.
(ERRB) Lie not one to another,
seeing that ye have
put off stripped the old man humanity
with his deeds functions ;
Colossians 3:10
10 And have put on the new (neoos) man, which is renewed ( anakainoos) in knowledge (full and precise knowledge that will affect a change) after the image of him that created him:
(ALT) Version: and having put on the new [person], the [one] being renewed in full [or, true] knowledge according to [the] image of the One having created him,
(CLV) Version: and putting on the young, which is being renewed into recognition, to accord with the Image of the One Who creates it,
Into a full and exact knowledge which changes something through the understanding this knowledge. This is also called recognition. The recognition and awareness of our new and novel and different type of humanity must be thorough. It must become second nature to live out of the box, walk through walls of circumstances, in the Person of Christ Jesus in you.
