After The Order of Melchisedec

Heb 5:6  As he saith also in another place ( according to  hetero), Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Let’s look at the comparison between Christ Jesus and Melchizedec. In  Melchizedec, the Christian finds her new identity.

The saint must come to grip that her old identity has been killed on the cross. It has been buried with Christ, resulting in having no sight and remembrance of it. Also by burial, the identity has been brought to decay.

The believers’ supreme struggle is to separate herself from this old identity. This has been so ingrained as part of who we are that we embrace it, even after many years of salvation. Identity means that we identify.

I believe that the root of the old identity is pain. The identity of Christ has no pain. Yet, for us to stop embracing and agreeing with pain takes a lifetime mental renewal on earth.

Heb 5:6  As he saith also in another place ( according to  hetero), Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

“Another place: “hetero”

“Hetero” is an influential Greek word. It is defined as “another’.

There are two words for “another” in  the Greek. One is “allos”. The second one is “heteros”.

Let’s say that we have three apples. We place them on a table individually.

As we place the first apple down and then get ready to place the second one we say, “ We are placing another apple”. After placing the second and then placing the third we  say. “we have finally placed another apple.”

This is the word “allos”. The three apples are all the same fruit, and yet each apple is another apple or “allos”. So allos is another, simply by number but of always of the same kind.

“Heteros” is a more powerful version of another.

Let’s say that instead of having three apples you have an apple, a pear and a mango. You still have three fruit, and each one is another fruit from the other two. Now the three fruit are of a different kind. Whereas the three apples were three fruit of the same kind but “allos” by numbers, the three fruit, the apple, the pear and the mango are “heteros” by kind.

Allos is another one  of the same kind. Heteros is another one because it’s of a totally different type or kind.

Look at Paul’s ingenious play in words using “allos” and “heteros”. Try to figure out what Paul what saying about spiritual gifts.

 1 Cor 12:7  But <1161> the manifestation <5321> of the Spirit <4151> is given <1325> (5743) to every man <1538> to <4314> profit withal <4851> (5723).

8  For <1063> to one <3739> <3303> is given <1325> (5743) by <1223> the Spirit <4151> the word <3056> of wisdom <4678>; <1161> to another (ALLOS) the word <3056> of knowledge <1108> by <2596> the same <846> Spirit <4151>;

9  <1161> To another (HETEROS) faith <4102> by <1722> the same <846> Spirit <4151>; <1161> to another (ALLOS) the gifts <5486> of healing <2386> by <1722> the same <846> Spirit <4151>;

10  <1161> To another (ALLOS) the working <1755> of miracles <1411>; <1161> to another (ALLOS) prophecy <4394>; <1161> to another (ALLOS) discerning <1253> of spirits <4151>; <1161> to another (HETEROS) divers kinds <1085> of tongues <1100>; <1161> to another (ALLOS) the interpretation <2058> of tongues <1100>:

Heb 5:6  As he saith also in another place ( according to  hetero), Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Jesus Christ has a priesthood which is “heteros” to Aaron’s priesthood. It’s of a totally different type and kind. It has nothing to with the sinful Adamic lineage through Aaron.

Our identity in Christ is an “heteros” identity. Its has nothing to do with who we were in Adam.

The arrangements, the order, and the principles governing this new identity is “heteros” to what we had in Adam.

Heb 5:9  And being made perfect, he became the author (the cause) of eternal salvation unto all them that obey ( submitted in order to hear) him;

And being matured, Jesus became the cause (adjective) of salvation (noun). The adjective modifies the noun. As regarding our salvation, the revealed Christ in us has become, “The Cause”. Instead of The Terminator, Christ is The Cause of all of God’s things.

Christ Jesus by His sacrifice has been matured and made perfect. Not that Christ has to become matured in anything. But as  the  pioneer of our salvation, He matured His work of redemption and salvation on our behalf.

The crux of salivation is that God has made Jesus Christ into all things that we need. Christ does not only give us what we need. He has been made into all things that we need. Christ does not only give us power. He is The Power of God. Christ does not only give us wisdom. He is The Wisdom of God.

Heb 5:9  And being made perfect, he became the author (the cause) of eternal salvation unto all them that obey ( submitted in order to hear) him;

The word “author” falls short in the English. More correctly because Christ has pioneered and perfected salvation He has become the cause of eternal salvation. God has made in into The Cause. Thus the more that Christ Jesus is revealed in you, the more liberty and wholeness you will experience, because He has been made into The Cause of your salvation.

Heb 6:1  Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto( be borne like seed spores) perfection ; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

I love the Greek play on words. Because Christ is The Cause of your salvation as a  high priest with an “heteros” identity “let us go on unto.”

“Let us go on unto”: Let us be borne or allow ourselves to be carried into perfection. Here is an illustration of this. I forget  what the type of flower is. It’s the one which has seed spores and when split open, its spores are borne by the wind and taken to another place where they fall and germinate.

This image portrays “let us go on unto”.

In other words, let us release our identity of bondage and pain and let us be borne by the winds of the Spirit into our new ‘heteros” identity. We let go of two things. One is letting go of the old identity. The other one is letting go of doubt and fear into a life of trusting, believing and receiving our new identity.

Heb 7:3  Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning ( arche) of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually ( dienekes).

What is our “heteros identity”?  It can be found in the life of Melchisedec who was made like unto Christ.

Melchisedec was unnfathered, unmothered, ungenerated, neither had he beginning or originals of days, and neither did he have an extermination, ending or completion of living and life.

Our new “ heteros” identity has no connection with the sinful lineage of Adam negotiating itself through our fathers and mothers. Neither is it generated from anything sinful from this word. Our heteros identity is unfathered, unmothered, and ungenerated.

Heb 7:3  Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning ( arche) of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually ( dienekes).

The word “ arche” is beginning or original. The new identity has nothing of the  beginning or original patterns of the fallen world. Nothing, and I mean nothing, of the original sicknesses or bondages which have been passed down through the  Adamic lineage are part of this new identity.

Heb 7:15  And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,

16  Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power( ability) of an endless life

Not according to fleshly precepts and precepts which govern humanity but according to the ability of a life that can never be loosed down, or dissolved. This is the “heteros” identity. The eternal type of life in us is indestructible, endless, not subject to corruption or decay and cannot be annulled.

Heb 10:12  But this man, after he had offered( towards carrying) one sacrifice for sins for ever (dienekes) sat down on the right hand of God;

Our “heteros” identity is rooted into what Christ did for us. Look at the words “for ever” which is the Greek “dienekes”.

Dienekes:  What occurs continually, bears and functions throughout all eternity without a break, or interruption, forevermore.

Christ’s sacrifice for our sin is maintained continually without break or interruption, throughout eternity, in remembrance, before the face of the Father. Praise God for that.  How can the devil accuse us? Because of this we can claim our “heteros” identity right here and right now and forever more.

Heb 10:14  For by one offering he hath perfected for ever (dienekes) them that are sanctified.

Through the one sacrifice Christ has perfected ( perfect active) the ones being hallowed ( perfect passive/ denotes reality, state, or existence). The permanent reality and essence of the heteros identity is one who is perfectly hallowed, untainted, un deformed, without disability or sin, unmarred, unfathered, unmothered, ungenerated, and nothing to do with the original patterns of this fallen world. It is maintained continually without break or interruption, throughout eternity, in remembrance, before the face of the Father.Let us us receive immediately from this identity.

Heb 7:22  By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

Christ Jesus because of this work has become our surety, bond,  pledge, the down payment and sponsor of our new identity.

Heb 7:24  But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.

“Unchangeable”:Unviolated, untransgressed, nontransferable, and cannot be touched. This is our “unchangeable” and heteros identity.

Heb 7:25  Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost ( panteles) that come unto God by( through) him, seeing he ever liveth ( He is always living) to make intercession (entugchan/ hit the bulls eye)for them.

Because of this Christ can save us to the uttermost.

Uttermost: “Panteles”. This word comes from the compound Greek “pan” and “telos”.

“Pan” means every. “Telo” is to mature, perfect and complete.

Salvation is defined that every last iota or part of us is perfectly saved by the one who lives on behalf of making intercession for us.

Intercession is a potent word. To hit the mark or bull eyes with the throw of a javelin is intercession. When the saint intercedes by the Spirit of God, she hits the bull’s-eyes God’s will

Conversely, because Christ is in heaven living to hits the bull eyes of God’s will on our behalf every part of us can be completely saved or “panteles”. Salvation is already here. It takes our obedience to experience its reality.

Heb 7:27  Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once (ephapax):, when he offered up himself.

Ephapax: One of the most powerful of all NT words. Done at once, everything done at one time, only one time needed, and done once and for all, is the word ephapax.

All that Christ did for us, He only had to do it one time, He did it all at once, at the one time when He was on the cross, and once and for all eternity! Think about that.

To finish, look at these scriptures with the word “ephapax”.

Have a great Monday!

Ro 6:10  For in that he died, he died unto sin once (ephapax): but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

Heb 7:27  Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once (ephapax):, when he offered up himself.

Heb 9:12  Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once (ephapax)  into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. (redemption finding)

Heb 10:10  By the which will we are sanctified ( perfect passive) through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once (ephapax) for all.
