Luke 5:26 And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.
Literal: “We have seen paradoxes today. “
A paradox is a strange, baffling or contradictory thing. It comes from two words, “beside or near to the glory.”
When God shows up, He manifests things which are paradoxical, illogical and irrational. At the end, all of His doings turn out magnificent.
We cannot place God in our perceptual box and mandate that He be demonstrated in the confines of our “comfortable, cookie cutter, and politically correct” thinking.
The glory of God is many times paradoxical, and strange.
This is why many will not believe Him.
Western countries like America, seek comfort and ease. If God is not manifested like that, they become offended. Westerners are offended with God because He is paradoxical.
But to those who believe Him like “little children”, He is wonderful.
