Is There A  Doppelganger Demon?

I have been a Christian for forty years.

My path to freedom in Christ has never been easy.

The Lord has never given me a shortcut.  I have had to  learn God’s lessons, step by step.

A few ago back the Holy Spirit showed me that through my life, there has been a voice interjecting harassing and tormenting thoughts.

 “you can’t do this, you’re too scared, or you will get rejected, or unending thoughts of dread, fear, doom, fearful thoughts of the future, getting taxed to death by the government,  imagining the worst, or, you don’t have enough money.”

In so many little ways, I have allowed these thoughts to dictate small  choices that I could had made more effectively.

Recently the Holy Spirit asked me.

Where are these thoughts coming from?

Are they from Me?

Is it you?

Then it dawned on me that these thoughts have nothing to do with the Christ Jesus who dwells in me.

God revealed that there were two identities functioning.

One was His and then there is the other one  who has nothing to do with Him.

But is this me?

Gal 2:20  I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.

The Bible tells me that I died with Christ.

So a  dead man cannot talk.

So who is the talking to me all these years?

Since the work of Christ in a person to is reveal His identity, the identity of the risen Christ, this is why the problem of identity is so prevalent in our culture.

We know that the devil’s work is to counterfeit what God created and wants to do.

I suspected a long time that the devil has worked in my life through a demon of false identity.

This demon has closely intertwined himself with me in my thoughts , through the thoughts that he interjects, in order to make me believe that these tormenting thoughts are actually coming from me.

That I am scared, that I am insecure, that I am in this, and that, when  since I am dead there is only Christ Jesus in me.

Surely those thoughts are not from Christ ?

The devil is a liar.

He only flees from a Christian, when the individual discovers his lies.

Yes, I was being lied to by a demon of false identity.

When I discovered this, many of these thoughts immediately stopped.

A few days ago, a friend sent me a blog on what the Bible calls familiar spirits.

What He said, got me thinking.

Could a familiar spirit be one who generationally before I was born, latched onto to my family line?

As long as I remember, even to the time when I was three or four, I have been tormented by these same thoughts.

Could this be a familiar spirit?

He becomes familiarized with your family and you, so much so, that he can intertwine his thoughts with your thoughts and make you believe that it’s really you!

I looked up familiar spirit in Wikipedia.

A familiar spirit –(alter ego, doppelgänger, personal demon, personal totem, spirit companion) is the double, the alter-ego, of an individual. It does not look like the individual concerned. Even though it may have an independent life of its own, it remains closely linked to the individual.

The alter ego, the false identity, the works of a demon who becomes so familiarized with you!

This sounded correct.

The word doppelgänger also stood out since it’s such a catch term in the culture.

In German this word is defined as, a double walker or someone who is your double and walks around.

So can this familiar spirit be a doppelgänger demon?

But this  is not what is  important.

Most importantly, is that I don’t think that I am alone in this battle.

I think that everyone gets viciously attacked by a demon of false identity, be it a doppelgänger demon or familiar spirit.

Its focus is to deceive you to walk in a false identity rather than the identity of the risen Christ in you.

It makes you think that it’s you with the problem rather than an attack from the outside!

So what will you do?
